Frequently Asked Questions

  • I specialize in counseling teens, young adults, women across all stages of life, those who are struggling in their faith, and those who find themselves facing the reality of betrayal trauma. I see clients for a variety of concerns, such as: grief, anxiety, depression, life transitions, career concerns, relationship conflict, intrusive thoughts, trauma, family of origin issues, and attachment problems.

Though I believe a relationship with God is central to living a fulfilled life, no matter where you are, I am happy to meet you there. We can incorporate your spirituality as little or as much in your therapy as you desire - I take your lead on this. I have experience counseling clients from various backgrounds and beliefs and am eager to hear your unique story.

  • I do not accept insurance. As a limited license counselor in the state of Michigan, I am unable to accept insurance but there are many benefits to being a private pay practice including:

-When you use insurance, they may stop covering therapy sessions at their discretion. Therapy and treatment decisions will be up to you and your therapist.

-Insurance requires a psychological diagnosis. Here, you are not given a psychological diagnosis that will remain part of your medical history, nor are your struggles pathologized.

–You are able to find the best therapist fit for you without limitations.

–There is much more privacy with private pay; your health insurance company can request to review a treatment plan and therapy records.

    – Your insurance does not dictate how many counseling sessions you can have or how long sessions need to be.

Why the name “The Dwelling Place”?

Psalm 27:4

One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the
house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.

I desire to cultivate a space for you to DWELL - to pause, reflect, and BE…be present with yourself and with God. To dwell is not to hurry or to pass by - to dwell is to remain, to abide, to inhabit. And as you dwell, you will also gaze upon the beauty that is being created in you and through you.
